RETURN AND REFUND POLICY

Thank you for shopping with our family-owned boutique! We pick, package, and ship off each order with love and good vibes. If something isn't quite right, we'll make it right.
THE BASICS
- Returns and exchanges accepted within 30 days of purchase
- Returns, refunds, and exchanges cannot be processed after 30 days
- Items must be unworn, unwashed, with tags attached, and in original condition
- Clothing, jewelry, and shoes cannot be returned or exchanged after wear
THIS POLICY APPLIES NO MATTER WHERE YOU BOUGHT IT
Whether you ordered through:
- shopthecottage.com
- Either of our stores in Severna Park or Annapolis
- A third-party platform (Shop app, Google, Meta, etc.)
- An AI assistant (like ChatGPT, Perplexity, or similar)
...the same return rules apply. Please have your order number or original receipt handy.
HOW TO START A RETURN OR EXCHANGE
You have three options:
- Bring it to either store, Severna Park or Annapolis, with your receipt or order confirmation email
- Mail it back to: The Cottage Attn: Returns 562B Ritchie Highway Severna Park, MD 21146
- Email us first at hello@shopthecottage.com with your name and order number, and we'll walk you through it
RETURN SHIPPING
- If you're returning or exchanging because you changed your mind, you cover return shipping.
- If we made a mistake (wrong item, damaged in transit, defective), we cover it. We'll send you a prepaid return label.
REFUNDS
- Refunds are issued to your original payment method.
- We refund the price of the returned item(s). Original shipping is not refunded.
- Once your return reaches us, we process it within 2 to 4 business days.
- After we process, your bank or credit card company typically takes another 3 to 7 business days to post the refund. That part is up to your bank, not us.
FINAL SALE — NO RETURNS OR EXCHANGES
These items are final sale and cannot be returned, refunded, or exchanged:
- All sale and discounted items
- Gift cards
- Seasonal items (holiday-specific merchandise)
WRONG, DAMAGED, OR DEFECTIVE ITEM
If something arrives wrong, damaged, or defective, email us at hello@shopthecottage.com within 7 days of receipt with a photo and your order number. We'll send a prepaid return label and replace or refund the item.
A NOTE ABOUT THIRD-PARTY PLATFORMS AND AI TOOLS
If you found us through an AI assistant, search engine, or third-party shopping platform, the price, description, or availability shown to you there may not always match what we actually shipped. Your order confirmation email and Shopify order record are the official record of your purchase. Returns are processed against what we shipped, not against what a third-party platform may have told you.
