Shipping policy

Thank you for shopping with our family-owned boutique! We pick, package, and ship off each order with love and good vibes.

THIS POLICY APPLIES NO MATTER WHERE YOU PLACED YOUR ORDER

Whether you ordered through shopthecottage.com, the Shop app, a search engine, social media, or an AI assistant (like ChatGPT, Perplexity, or similar), the same shipping rates, timing, and rules apply. Your order confirmation email and Shopify order record are the official record of your purchase, including any shipping charges and delivery estimates.

SHIPPING RATES

  • Standard shipping: $7.99 per order
  • FREE shipping on orders over $99
  • All orders ship from Severna Park, MD

PROCESSING & DELIVERY TIME

  • Processing: Please allow up to 3 business days for us to pick, pack, and ship your order
  • Delivery: 2 to 5 business days after shipping, depending on location
  • You'll receive a tracking email once your order ships

CARRIERS

We mostly ship via USPS and UPS. We occasionally use FedEx.

HOLIDAY AND PEAK SEASON DELAYS

During Black Friday, Cyber Monday, the November and December holiday season, and major sale events, processing and delivery may take longer than usual. We do our best to keep things moving, but carrier delays during peak times are out of our hands. We'll keep you posted along the way.

ADDRESS ACCURACY

Please double-check your shipping address before checkout. We ship to the address on your order confirmation email exactly as it appears.

  • Caught a mistake? Email us at hello@shopthecottage.com before we ship. If we haven't packed it yet, we can fix it. No problem.
  • Package returned to us due to incorrect address? We'll reach out to arrange reshipping. The customer is responsible for the additional shipping fee.

STORE PICKUP

We'd love to see you! In-store and curbside pickup is FREE at both locations.

Select In-Store Pickup at checkout and choose your location:

  • The Cottage (Severna Park, MD): 562B Ritchie Hwy, Severna Park, MD 21146
  • The Cottage on Main (Annapolis, MD): 149 Main St, Annapolis, MD 21401

You can pick up at either location, regardless of which store has the item.

ALASKA, HAWAII, U.S. TERRITORIES, AND INTERNATIONAL

We do ship to Alaska, Hawaii, and U.S. territories. Rates are based on actual shipping costs and may differ from our standard rates. We occasionally ship internationally on a case-by-case basis.

EXPEDITED SHIPPING

Need it fast? We can usually expedite for an additional charge. Email us at hello@shopthecottage.com for pricing and availability.

Please note: 2-day and overnight expedited shipping must go to a residential or business address (no PO boxes).

DAMAGED IN TRANSIT

It can happen, and we're here for you. If your order arrives damaged:

  1. Email us at hello@shopthecottage.com within 7 days of delivery
  2. Include your order number, photos of the damaged item AND the damaged packaging, and a brief description
  3. Hold onto all packaging materials until we sort it out

We'll replace the item or issue a refund. See our Return and Refund Policy for full details.

LOST OR MISSING PACKAGES

If your tracking shows the package is in transit but stops moving, or if it shows "delivered" but you can't find it, here's what to do:

  1. Check around your delivery location (front porch, side door, with neighbors, building mailroom)
  2. Check with anyone in your household who may have grabbed it
  3. File a claim with the carrier:

Email us at hello@shopthecottage.com once you've filed and we'll help where we can. We may replace the item depending on the situation, but for packages marked "delivered" by the carrier, the carrier claim is the primary path to resolution.
